Badin: Police in Badin city on Sunday  lodged an FIR against former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza under anti-terror clauses for attacking a police station and creating law and order issues.

According to police sources, police tried to arrest Nadeem Mughal, a supporter of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, but his colleagues helped him escape.

After the incident, Mirza accompanied by his gunmen forced shopkeepers to shut down their businesses and after stormed into police station,  broke the glass table top in the deputy superintendent’s office, and his mobile phone.

Mirza while talking to local news channels said that he had gone to the police station to register a case against what he called the attempted kidnapping of his supporter.

Mirza alleged that a local politician wanted to ‘kidnap’ his supporter and murder him in a police ‘encounter’.

PPP supporters came out on the streets in protest of the enforced closure of shops by Mirza’s gunmen.

A large number of PPP supporters later gathered outside the police station, demanding that a case be registered against Zulfiqar Mirza.
