The United States will continue to support Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism, violent extremism, and build a more stable and democratic society.
This was stated by US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner at a media briefing in Washington.
He said supporting Pakistan in the fight against terrorism is in long-term national interest of the United States itself.
The spokesperson once again lauded the statement of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif where he said Pakistan’s soil will not be allowed to be used against any other country.
When asked if the United States still supports UN resolutions promising right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir, the spokesperson said US policy and position on Kashmir has not changed.
However, he said the United States wants Pakistan and India to hold dialogue to settle the Kashmir issue. (APP)
