KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has declared Saturday as a day of mourning consequent to the deadly bombing at an Imambargah in Shikarpur. This is to express sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved families, he said in a statement issued on Friday evening.

The chief minister announced Rs500,000 for heirs of each of the deceased and Rs100,000 for every seriously injured victim.

He said that the amount or any sort of material assistance can never be an alternative for precious human lives. However, the compensation was a gesture to console with the families of the victims.

Expressing his grief over the loss of precious lives he termed the explosion a cowardly attack on innocent citizens and warned the terrorists that the government as well as people are united in their resolve against terrorism in the country. “We are equally committed to bringing the culprits to justice and to completely eliminate them from Sindh,” he said. The Sindh CM said that the law enforcing agencies were determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism, once and for all and “we are strictly implementing the national action plan (NAP) for this purpose.”

The IG Police Sindh has been directed to submit a complete report on the incident within shortest possible time, he said. The Sindh CM has also asked all the DIGs of the province to heighten security of all places of worship.

Shah asked police to detect the hideouts and sympathisers of terrorists in their respective areas of jurisdiction and take action against them.
