Federal Railway Minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique Sunday announced reduction in goods train fare with more facilities to compete with the road transporters.
Addressing a press conference here, Rafique claimed that the Pakistan Railways earned Rs5.25 billion more as compared to the same period previous year.
He attributed this phenomenal positive change to reduction in fare, departmental discipline, transparent sale of the scraps and restoration of the goods trains.
He announced the launch of shuttle service on different routes and the increase of bogies in several trains for the convenience and comfort of the people. He said that many stops were given to trains on political grounds in the past..
The railway minister said that 14 locomotives have been included in Pakistan Railway and 20 more engines would be purchased by July.
