The police have been caught on camera just before they faked an encounter in which two unidentified suspects were gunned down extra-judicially here on Friday.

The footage was shot by a brave Samaa TV reporter while driving by the crime scene at Mughal Kanta in Orangi Town.

 The Footage

At the start of the footage, cops uniformed as well as in civvies can be seen frisking two men in their late twenties or early thirties.

It also shows the police could not recover anything unlawful from the suspects.

The whole ordeal is unfolding next to an unmarked vehicle bearing a Karachi registeration number plate. Then suddenly a plainclothesman pulls out an AK-47 and fires several shots in the air.

Then there appears a street vendor in the frame, he is pushing his cart towards the crime scene, unbeknownst to what was going on a few yards ahead. The unwelcome peddler is scared away by the police. After a while both the men could be seen lying dead in an ambulance.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police West, Javaid Odho, said “Those who will be found responsible will not be spared no matter what”.
