Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid has said the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri came to Pakistan at will but could only leave if law permits. He alleged PAT workers ruthlessly beat the cops and now law would take its own course.
Pervaiz Rashid was talking to media after inquiring after the injured cops at Jinnah Hospital Rawalpindi on Tuesday. He said torture of police officers on behalf of Tahirul Qadri was shameful. The arms of around 100 police were fractured while many have been paralyzed, he alleged.
The minister said that the PAT chief was trying to divert people’s attention from ongoing military operation in North Waziristan. He further alleged Qadri was also trying to introduce new kind of terrorism to the country.
Earlier on Tuesday, a case had been registered against three thousand supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri at the Airport police station in Rawalpindi.
The PAT workers have been booked on charges of terrorism, torturing police, damaging public property, robbery and intervention in state affair.
The First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged on the behalf of DSP CIA Farhan Aslam.
