Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Hague to attend the 2 days Nuclear Security Summit starting from today. Leaders of 53 countries will attend the summit. On the first day of the summit, the Prime Minister will dilver an address.
The third bi-annual NSS is aimed at preventing nuclear attack by terrorists and reducing the world’s overall non-military nuclear materials.
World leaders would meet on Tuesday to discuss securing the world’s stocks of nuclear material to try and ensure that terror group like Al-Qaeda do not acquire a nuclear or so-called ‘dirty’ bomb of conventional explosives wrapped in radioactive material. Unlike an ordinary nuclear device the ‘dirty bomb’ is not so much a weapon of mass destruction. But a weapon of mass “disruption” as it could potentially lead to wholesale evacuation of entire cities.
According to American president Obama, nuclear proliferation “one of the greatest threats to international security”.
