The National Assembly earlier today unanimously adopted the 22nd Constitutional Amendment bill, enabling the retired civil servants and technocrats to be part of election commission.
The bill was present in the lower house by Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
Non of the lawmakers voted against the bill.
According to the amended bill, 22 grade retired civil servants and technocrats will also be eligible to hold office of election commission of Pakistan.
Like the Senate, the election commission will continue its job for the entire year, the bill says. Half of the ECP members will retire after every two-and-a-half year, it added.
