Punjab Counter-terrorism department (CTD) foiled a plot to assassinate Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
CTD killed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s new appointed leader Asif Chotu in an encounter who was hatching a plot to target the Punjab chief minister.
CTD team claimed that Columnist Ataul Haq Qasmi was also the target of the terrorists, who were demanding extortion from influential figures.
CTD team killed four militants including asif Chotu were killed in a shootout in Sheikhupura by CTD acting on a tip that the group was planning an attack in Lahore.
In a statement issued by the CTD Punjab said “Big chapters of terrorism, target killings have been closed today, These terrorists were merciless killing machines,”
