Lahore: Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar will replace injured leg-spinner Yasir Shah in the upcoming one-day series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan cricket Board announced Thursday.

A spokesman for the PCB said that Babar will depart for Bangladesh today.

Shah, 28, was ruled out of the series when he needed three stitches on his left thumb after being hit during a practice match on Wednesday ahead of the first of three one-day internationals in Dhaka on Friday.

Shah’s injury was the third such injury setback for touring Pakistan team in the past two weeks, and it was unclear if the leg-spinner will be available for the subsequent Test series.

Two other World Cup squad members, Sohaib Maqsood and Sohail Khan, were earlier ruled out of the tour with injuries.

Pakistan will play three one-day internationals, a solitary Twenty20 game and two Tests on the month-long tour of Bangladesh.
