Released on November 26, 2025, the Disney film achieved record-breaking success within two months. It has now become the highest-grossing animated film in Hollywood history, according to industry estimates.
The sequel has earned $1.7 billion worldwide, overtaking Inside Out 2 to claim the top spot. Industry publication The Wrap reported that only China’s Ne Zha 2 has generated higher earnings when adjusted for inflation.
Zootopia 2 is also closing in on another major achievement. The film is on track to surpass Avengers: Endgame as the highest-grossing American movie ever released in China, underscoring its massive international appeal.

The story reunites fan-favourite detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Ginnifer Goodwin voices Judy, while Jason Bateman returns as Nick. The duo follow the trail of a mysterious reptile whose arrival disrupts life across Zootopia.
To solve the case, the partners go undercover in unfamiliar districts of the city. Their investigation tests their trust, teamwork, and growing bond as the stakes rise.
Music has also played a role in the film’s success. The final trailer introduced the original song Zoo, co-written and performed by Shakira and Ed Sheeran. Both artists make cameo appearances as sheep, including a character named Ed Shearin.
The song Zoo debuted on October 10, 2025, while the official soundtrack followed on November 21, 2025. With record-breaking box office numbers and strong audience response, Zootopia 2 continues to set the pace for animated films worldwide.
