YouTube’s global outage has been resolved after a technical issue briefly disrupted access to the video-sharing platform worldwide.
The company confirmed that a problem within its recommendation system prevented videos from appearing across multiple YouTube surfaces. As a result, users experienced difficulties accessing content on YouTube.com, the YouTube app, YouTube Music, YouTube Kids, and YouTube TV.
In an official update, YouTube stated that the issue had been fixed and all platforms were operating normally again.
According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, reports of service problems surged at the peak of the disruption. In the United States alone, more than 320,000 users submitted reports of issues.
Downdetector compiles data based on user-submitted complaints. Therefore, the actual number of affected users may differ from reported figures.
The disruption was not limited to the US. Users in India, Britain, Australia, and Mexico also reported difficulties accessing the platform.

Although the outage was temporary, it highlighted how dependent millions of users are on YouTube’s recommendation system. When recommendations fail to load, users may struggle to find videos on homepages, in search results, and in suggested feeds.
YouTube confirmed that normal service has resumed across all its platforms. Users can now access recommendations and videos without interruption.
