Indian powerlifter Yashika Acharya, aged 17, lost her life in a devastating gym accident on Tuesday. Indian media reports that a 270kg barbell fell on her neck during training in Bikaner. This Yashika Acharya accident has stunned the sports world.

Yashika was lifting weights under her trainer’s supervision when the barbell slipped. It landed on her neck, causing a fatal injury. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Her trainer received minor injuries and remains stable.

Seventeen-year-old powerlifting sensation Yashtika Acharya, the gold medal winner in Junior National Games, lost her life in a heart-breaking gym accident in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Police say Yashika’s family has not filed any legal action yet. Her post-mortem took place on Wednesday, and her body was released to relatives. The Yashika Acharya accident raises questions about gym safety protocols.

Yashika Acharya excelled in powerlifting, featuring squats, bench presses, and deadlifts. She won a gold medal at the national level, marking her as a rising star. Though not an Olympic event, powerlifting enjoys global recognition. Her sudden death leaves a void in the community.

The Yashika Acharya accident echoes other tragic sports incidents. For example, Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes died in 2014 after a bouncer struck him during a match. Such events highlight the risks athletes face.
