Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, declared on Saturday that its Grok-2 chatbot is now accessible for free on the X social media platform.

The company confirmed that premium and Premium+ subscribers retain higher usage limits and first access to new features after recent tests of the updated model.

What can Grok-2 do?

  • Search results and citations: Grok-2 utilizes X to track global events in real time and now features web search and citations, enhancing user access to external content and verification sources.
  • Creative image generation with Aurora: This model offers advanced photo and meme creation, promoting enhanced photorealism. The new “draw me” feature lets users create artistic versions of themselves from their X profiles.
  • Contextual analysis: A forthcoming “Grok” button on user timelines will provide deeper insights and contextual understanding of posts, enriching engagement.
  • Broader introduction of Grok AI Initially introduced last year for Premium users as a clever AI assistant, Grok now reaches a wider audience.

Grok joins the competitive field of AI assistants like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Anthropic’s Claude.

@elonmusk ’s AI startup, @xai , has announced that the latest version of its Grok-2 chatbot is now available for free to all users on the social media platform X.
