“Wiki Loves Earth” features Top 10 photos from Pakistan

Wikipedia, organised an annual global photography competition, and has shortlisted the ten best pictures from Pakistan for the competition ‘Wiki Loves Earth’.

The ‘Wiki Loves Earth’ is an annual international photo contest of the natural monuments, where participants picture protected areas and upload their photos to Wikimedia Commons.

The goal of the project is, on one hand, to picture under a free license as many natural monuments and protected areas as possible, on the other hand, to contribute to nature protection by raising public awareness.

These pictures are to be used to illustrate articles on Wikipedia and other Wikiprojects (Wikivoyage, Wikinews, Wikiquote etc.).

Wiki Loves Earth 2016 held from May 1 to 31st May 2016. The participating countries were: Algeria, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Moldova, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Tunisia and Ukraine.

The photography competition was around natural heritage of Pakistan.

Pakistan became a part of the competition for the first time last year and achieved the first position amongst 28 participating nations.

The international winners of Wiki Loves Earth 2016 are yet to be announced, but the top 10 pictures to represent Pakistan.
