Anna Sorokin, known also as Anna Delvey, has returned to public attention through her appearance on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ complete with a glittery ankle monitor. This unexpected turn marks her latest venture into the spotlight.
Sorokin first became notorious by impersonating a wealthy German heiress to defraud hotels, banks, and acquaintances of over $200,000. Her high-profile scam led to a media frenzy and inspired the 2022 Netflix series ‘Inventing Anna.’ This series portrays her manipulative escapades within New York’s high society, capturing global attention.
Convicted in 2019 of theft and grand larceny, Sorokin received a sentence of four to 12 years and orders for restitution. Released in February 2021, she soon encountered immigration issues and was detained by ICE for visa overstays. In October 2022, she was granted home confinement pending her deportation appeal, which allowed her to travel to Los Angeles for the dance show.
Sorokin’s ankle monitor became a focal point during her ‘Dancing With The Stars’ debut on September 17. She commented to The Associated Press, “It’s actually not a big issue at all. It’s pretty light, and I asked them to make it tight so it doesn’t dangle. So, it’s not so bad.”
