WhatsApp users worldwide experienced a major service disruption on Tuesday night. The outage prevented millions from sending or receiving messages.
The problem began around 7 PM Pakistan Time and escalated rapidly. It affected users across several countries, including the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Brazil, and the United States.
Downdetector, a service that tracks online outages, recorded a sharp spike in user reports. The issues peaked globally around 8 PM Pakistan Time.
The outage impacted both the mobile application and the web-based version, WhatsApp Web. Data suggested over 80% of the reported problems were related to the browser version.

Users reported that their chats failed to load. Outgoing messages also remained undelivered.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not yet issued an official statement. The company has not commented on the cause of the disruption or provided a timeline for a full restoration of services.
