Downdetector.com reported a WhatsApp disruption impacting thousands worldwide, owned by Meta Platforms (META.O). In the US, approximately 12,000 users encountered messaging platform issues. The site aggregates outage data from various inputs, including direct user feedback.
Significant disruptions were noted elsewhere: over 20,000 in India, around 46,000 in the UK, and more than 42,000 in Brazil, as per Downdetector’s figures. Additionally, about 4,800 US users experienced Instagram difficulties.
Meta has yet to address the outage following an official query from Reuters.
Previously, a technical glitch led to a widespread service interruption that affected hundreds of thousands across Facebook and Instagram and lasted over two hours.
