After several delays due to the wildfires impacting Los Angeles, the 2025 Oscar nominations have been rescheduled, with the Academy confirming the new date.
In light of the tragedy, the ceremony honoring the highest cinematic accomplishments will continue as planned on March 2, as confirmed by Academy CEO Bill Kramer. The announcement for nominations is now scheduled for January 23.

In a statement after consultations with ABC and other key stakeholders, Bill Kramer affirmed that the 97th Oscars would not only proceed but also incorporate tributes to the heroes battling the fires. “We believe it’s crucial to support our film community and use our platform to spotlight these significant efforts,” Kramer stated.

The upcoming Oscars will focus heavily on musical themes. Films like Wicked and Emilia Perez and the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown are considered strong contenders for Best Picture. Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang will lead the nomination reveal, broadcast live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
