Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) seven-member selection committee. This decision follows Pakistan’s early departure from the T20 World Cup 2024.
The committee reshuffle occurred on Tuesday, indicating further changes. Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Yousuf, still committee members, are expected to be dismissed soon.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will announce a new selection committee in the upcoming days, following his earlier indication of significant changes after Pakistan’s initial losses at the T20 World Cup 2024.
Naqvi expressed his disappointment at a press conference in New York on June 10, following Pakistan’s defeat to India. “Initially, a minor surgery would suffice for the Pakistan cricket team. However, the team’s extremely poor performance requires major surgery,” he stated.
Today, Naqvi met with white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood. Additionally, he convened former and current cricketers to strategize on Pakistani cricket’s future directions.
