The US Embassy in Pakistan has issued a security alert for Peshawar, advising its personnel and citizens to avoid the Serena Hotel due to identified threats. The advisory alert, titled ‘Threat to Serena Hotel, Peshawar,’ was released on Wednesday.
Additionally, the US Mission urges all US citizens to refrain from visiting Peshawar in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province until December 16, citing significant security concerns.
The alert advises against visiting the hotel and the surrounding area during this period and suggests reconsidering travel plans to the region. It also references a ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory from September 10, which places Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at ‘Level 4’ due to heightened terrorism risks.

The September advisory highlights that active terrorist and insurgent groups in the area frequently attack civilians, non-governmental organizations, government offices, and security forces. These attacks often target government officials and civilians alike, with common incidents of assassination and kidnapping attempts, including those against polio eradication teams and local security services.
Recent months have seen an increase in terrorist activities and assaults on security personnel within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
