Police have released additional details in the investigation into a suicide attempt involving a female student at the University of Lahore.
According to investigators, the student suffered serious injuries after falling from an upper floor of a university building. This marks the second such incident reported at the institution within the past 15 days. Last month, a male student, Owais Sultan, died after a similar fall at the same campus.
Police said the student arrived at the university at 7:58 am on the day of the incident. However, she did not attend her scheduled class. Investigators stated that she remained on a phone call for around 27 minutes before jumping from the building at approximately 8:30 am.
Officials added that the student deleted her most recent call record before the incident. Her brothers told police they had purchased a new mobile phone for her a day earlier. This was because her previous device developed technical faults.

According to preliminary findings, the student recently appeared for a university test and scored 18 out of 35. Police said she had shared her dissatisfaction with the result with her parents and brothers. Investigators confirmed that inquiries are ongoing. The final cause of the incident will be determined once all procedural steps are complete. Detailed statements from both brothers are currently being recorded.

Earlier, Faisal Kamran, DIG Operations, said the incident had raised serious concerns. Speaking to local news channel ARY News, he confirmed that police had questioned the injured student’s classmates as well as university officials.
He stated that no evidence has emerged to date suggesting pressure related to attendance or any administrative issue at the University of Lahore. According to the DIG, initial inquiries with classmates in Lahore also did not indicate any academic or institutional dispute linked to the incident.
DIG Faisal Kamran added that the student sustained severe injuries to her legs. He said further clarity is expected after a detailed analysis of the student’s mobile phone data and call detail records. Authorities stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and all aspects, including possible personal or domestic stress factors, are being examined.
