Magomed Ankalaev emerged as the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion after securing a unanimous decision victory over Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 313, held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The judges scored the bout 49-46, 48-47, and 48-47, favoring Ankalaev, marking him as only the second fighter in the UFC to defeat Pereira after Israel Adesanya. The contest was fiercely competitive from start to finish.

Pereira began the fight with a strong tactical approach, dominating the opening round. However, Ankalaev turned the tables in Round 2, delivering multiple left hands and a significant strike in the last ten seconds that shook Pereira. Despite this, Pereira recovered well, maintaining his threat with effective counterstrikes, especially in the closely fought third round.

Ankalaev strategically slowed the pace in the fourth round, employing clinch work against the cage. The final round was a meticulous striking battle, with both fighters showcasing their skills and resilience.

Post-Fight Developments

With the win, Ankalaev (21-1-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) extended his unbeaten streak to 14 fights, rebounding impressively from his debut loss in the UFC to Paul Craig. On the other hand, Pereira (12-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC), whose five-fight winning streak was halted, expressed his determination for an immediate rematch, aiming to reclaim his position at the top.
