The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly refuted allegations that it has ceased issuing visas to Pakistanis.
“A lie has circulated for two years claiming that the UAE was not issuing visas to Pakistanis,” stated UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi during an event in the port city. He encouraged those seeking visas to visit the UAE visa centre directly.
Dr. Remeithi reinforced the Emirates’ commitment to supporting Islamabad, mentioning that their government has directed them to stand by Pakistan.
Highlighting upcoming investments, the consul general predicted a significant positive development within the next one to two months.
These comments by the UAE official followed last week’s dismissal by Pakistan’s Embassy of media reports suggesting that the UAE government documented reasons for imposing visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals.
This dismissal came after claims surfaced about a proposed visa ban on Pakistani nationals during a UAE cabinet meeting.
Consul General Remeithi’s reassurance about the absence of a visa ban echoes previous statements made in August and counters similar rumours.
The diplomat cautioned Pakistani expatriates about spreading propaganda against their home country, its institutions, or politicians.
He emphasized the digital footprint left by social media interactions, whether in Pakistan or the UAE, noting, “Whatever you share or like, whether it’s something good or bad, can lead to your ban or visa rejection.”
