At the Future Summit in Karachi, UAE Consul General Bakhit Atiq Al-Rumaiti discussed Pakistan’s potential to expand its mango industry through value addition.
Al-Rumaiti highlighted the facilitation that UAE investors enjoy upon arrival, contrasting it with the hurdles, such as visa issues and additional costs, faced by Pakistani investors.
He stressed the importance of simplifying the investment process to encourage more inflows.
Pointing to the high demand for Pakistani mangoes in Dubai, Al-Rumaiti noted that mangoes purchased for $10 are resold at $120 after repackaging. He emphasized the substantial benefits of enhancing value addition within Pakistan’s agricultural sector, calling for a joint effort from the government and stakeholders.
Al-Rumaiti also addressed food security as a regional priority, noting that many Pakistanis in Dubai frequently request mangoes as gifts for family back home.
He assured that the UAE’s focus on economic growth provides ample investment opportunities for Pakistanis and directed potential investors to the appropriate ministries for assistance.
