The United Arab Emirates has shown a strong interest in partnering with Pakistan in the minerals and agriculture sectors, as discussed during a meeting in Rahim Yar Khan between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday.
Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing economic, political, and cultural relationships in this meeting. They covered various topics: economic cooperation, regional stability, climate change, and advancing shared global interests.
Earlier, President Nahyan personally drove with Prime Minister Sharif accompanying him. The Prime Minister welcomed the UAE president, referring to Pakistan as his “second home” and lauding the UAE’s leadership for its significant role in Pakistan’s development and investment sectors. He highlighted Pakistan’s eagerness to broaden collaboration in renewable energy, technology, trade, infrastructure, and skill development.
President Nahyan expressed the UAE’s interest in the mining, minerals, and agriculture sectors, noting that the UAE sees the current economic direction under Prime Minister Shehbaz as positive and conducive to increased bilateral investments and projects. He stressed the importance of strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations, focusing on the value of people-to-people ties and shared prosperity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Nahyan for the UAE’s consistent support during challenging times, particularly in humanitarian and development assistance. Both leaders pledged to continue their close collaboration on regional peace and progress.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz shared on ‘X’, “Delighted to meet my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, today in Rahimyar Khan. We reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen Pak-UAE cooperation further and elevate our ties to a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. We resolved to continue our joint efforts on investments and other mutual interests.”
