Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to setup central election cell at Jinnah Ground of Azizabad.

The MQM leadership decision come after PTI leader Imran Ismail was attacked by some MQM’s supporters at Jinnah Ground.

Earlier, PTI has submitted an application, seeking permission to hold a rally at Jinnah Ground for April 23 by-election. The rally will be addressed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Despite the attack, PTI leaders vowed to visit the area on daily basis to run the campaign for the by-election.

According to reports, MQM has set up tents at Jinnah Ground, where main leaders will sit and launch the campaign for the election.

MQM leader Hyder Abbas Rizvi addressing a press conference said that PTI leader Imran Ismail and his supporters tore down posters and banners of party’s chief Altaf Hussain in Azizabad, Karachi..

“We have no threat from any party on this seat,” Rizvi said, adding that his party has been winning this constituency for 30 years. Rizvi said that Kanwar Naveed would win the by-election with a big lead.

The MQM leader suggested that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summon all candidates and devise a code of conduct.

The PTI, he said, could not win the hearts of people with its undemocratic mindset.
