According to the Associated Press, President-elect Donald Trump received a congratulatory call from President Joe Biden as he initiated the transition from election victory to government formation.
AP reports that Biden, who defeated Trump four years prior, extended an invitation for an Oval Office meeting to discuss the transition of responsibilities.
“President Trump is looking forward to the meeting, which will occur soon, and he greatly appreciated the call,” stated Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director.
A White House official said that on Wednesday, Biden’s chief of staff urged Trump’s team to execute the necessary federal agreements for a smooth presidential transition.
Despite not discussing specific agreements with the Biden administration, transition co-chairs Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon announced that Trump will soon select his administration’s personnel.
