Russian national Alexey Kim recently completed a record-breaking trophy hunt near Pakistan’s Chitral Gol National Park (CGNP).
Kim successfully hunted a 14-year-old Markhor, an animal noted for its impressive 55-inch horns. This surpasses previous records in both horn size and animal age.
The hunt in the Singoor Doke area, adjacent to CGNP. The Markhor, once considered endangered, has seen its numbers recover significantly thanks to effective conservation efforts involving local communities.
Kim’s trophy, which featured notably large horns, was obtained legally as part of a controlled hunting initiative aimed at conservation and community development.

The CGNP wildlife division, highlighted that this hunt was part of a broader conservation strategy. The strategy includes involving local communities in sustainable hunting practices, which have helped bolster the population of the Kashmir Markhor. Kim’s hunt was the season’s fourth and final trophy hunt, for which he paid $71,000 (approximately Rs19.862 million). The funds raised from these hunts are typically used to support wildlife conservation and local community projects.
This particular hunt is unique not only because of the size of the Markhor’s horns, which measured two inches longer than the previous record, but also because of the animal’s age, making it an exceptional instance in the annals of trophy hunting in the region.
