Relief workers with the use of helicopters have rescued at least five police personnel trapped for the past five days after heavy snowfall in upper Naran-Kaghan Valley in Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The policeman became trapped at the checkpost in Basal, about 50 kilometres from Naran, after heavy snowfall stranded them. One policeman was killed after he tried to escape the previous night in sheer desperation. The condition of the rescued cops is reportedly stable

According to Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak, two helicopters were used in the rescue operation, which was currently underway to search for three other missing policemen.
