In a horrifying event, six individuals died in an attack at a kindergarten in Lianjiang City in southern China’s Guangdong province. According to the city government, the incident occurred on Monday and also left one person wounded.
The victims consisted of a teacher, two parents, and three students. The city’s spokesperson did not provide further details regarding the victims’ identities or ages. She also refrained from commenting on the weapon employed during the attack.
Suspect Arrested
A suspect, a 25-year-old male with the surname Wu, was apprehended following the incident. The police are currently investigating the matter.
As per the China News Network, the attack transpired around 7:40 am (local time). Videos allegedly depicting the crime scene, captured by bystanders, have been removed from video-sharing platforms such as Douyin and Weibo.
Despite strict gun control regulations, China has been grappling with a surge in mass stabbings in recent years. A steady increase in violent crime has been noted, coinciding with the nation’s economic growth and the rapidly widening wealth gap.
