A jeep plummeted off the Lyari Expressway after crashing through safety barriers, resulting in one fatality and three serious injuries. The accident occurred early Monday morning near the Shershah police station area when a tyre burst, causing the vehicle to lose control as it approached the Lyari Expressway toll plaza.
Police reported that the deceased, 20-year-old Ali Ahmed and the injured were returning to Gulshan-e-Maymar from a picnic at Hawks Bay when the tragic incident occurred. The vehicle, carrying seven young men, veered off the road after the tyre burst, breaking through the guardrail and tumbling down.
The three critically injured passengers, 22-year-old Abdul Ahad, 18-year-old Ramadan, and 20-year-old Ali, were swiftly transported to the Civil Trauma Center by Chhipa Ambulance. All victims were residents of Gulshan-e-Maymar.
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Zaman of Shershah police station confirmed that seven young men occupied the jeep at the time of the accident. Besides the serious injuries, three others suffered minor cuts. The group was heading home when the critical tyre failure near the toll plaza led to the catastrophic loss of control.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to gather more details and understand the sequence of events leading to this fatal accident.
