The capital’s business community has sought early solution to the lingering political crisis.
In a meeting held here on Wednesday at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), traders said business activities had almost come to a halt.
“Both sides should make serious efforts to resolve this crisis through dialogue to save the country from further damage,” the ICCI members said after the meeting.
They said not only were business activities getting affected in Blue Area, Aabpara Market and other centres of the capital, but industrial production had also suffered.
“The worst sufferers of the prevailing crisis were the traders of Islamabad,” ICCI President Shaban Khalid said, adding that “even the daily wage workers were under financial stress.”
The businessmen said due to the current protests and sit-ins, cargo was stranded at Karachi Port, and the supply chain upcountry had been disturbed. As a result, many cities were facing shortage of supplies.
