Presidents of all chambers of commerce and industry have rejected Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) revision, announced by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar yesterday and said they would continue to protest against the “unjust” cess until its withdrawal.
In a joint statement, all the chambers — including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, KPK, Quetta and Gujranwala — pledged that they would continue to be united against such “anti-business” initiatives.
They urged the government to facilitate growth of businesses which would automatically generate more tax revenue, create more jobs and increase exports.
