Indus Motor Company (IMC), Toyota Pakistan, increased CKD vehicle costs from Rs280,000 to Rs1,210,000.
In a notice, Toyota Pakistan informed its chief executive officers, principal dealers, and dealer head of sales; the notice states, “Due to economic uncertainties and inflation in raw material cost, the vendor cost of production has significantly increased.”
The automaker also highlighted FX volatility, rising utilities, and overheads as important factors affecting manufacturing costs.
Thus, IMC cannot maintain retail selling prices and must pass on some impact to the market. The new retail selling price (ex-factory) effected on January 12:
