Todd Meadows Death Deadliest Catch: What the Coast Guard Reported
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, watchstanders in Juneau received notification from the Aleutian Lady at around 5:05 p.m. local time that Meadows had gone overboard roughly 170 miles north of Dutch Harbour. The crew recovered him about 10 minutes later, but he was unresponsive, and first aid and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
The Coast Guard said it investigates marine casualties to determine causes and identify corrective safety measures.
Captain Rick Shelford, owner of the Aleutian Lady, confirmed Meadows’ passing in an emotional tribute, calling it the vessel’s “most tragic day” and remembering him as a new crew member who quickly became family.
Discovery also issued a condolence statement describing Meadows’ death as a devastating loss and offering sympathy to his loved ones and crewmates.
Green said the crew did everything possible to save Meadows and described rescue attempts at sea as extremely difficult.
A GoFundMe has been organised to support Meadows’ three sons and help with funeral expenses, according to reports. Season 22 has completed filming, but it remains unclear how the network will handle footage related to the incident.
