The Sindh government  despite reservations over Rangers special powers at last granted one month’s extension in the Rangers’ policing powers in the province.

A spokesman for the Sindh Chief Minister confirmed on Wednesday night that extension of one month in special powers of the paramilitary force has been accorded.

After the approval of Sindh government, the Home Department  will issue the orders to extend the special policing powers of rangers for 30 days.

According to spokesman of Chief Minister, Sindh assembly will be sought for authorization of the extension under the Article-147 of the Constitution.

Earlier, Co-chairman, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari directed Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to immediately extend to special policing powers vested in the paramilitary troops to fight terrorism.
