The Council of Islamic Ideology has recommended that the Pakistani government make the practice of issuing triple talaq (instant divorce) at once a punishable offence.
During a session chaired by Dr. Muhammad Raghib Husain Naeemi, the council also moved to enhance penalties under the Dowry Act, increasing fines from six months to one year. Additionally, it approved an increase in allowable wedding expenses from 2,500 rupees to the equivalent of 2 tolas of gold, aligning the dowry value accordingly.
The council advised that since a draft legislation addressing the issue of triple talaq had already been prepared, it should be forwarded to the government for further action.

In other decisions, the council rejected a private family law bill proposed by Barrister Ali Zafar of the PTI. The bill advocated for equal division of property acquired after marriage between spouses and was declared infeasible under Sharia law.
Moreover, the council endorsed including a mandatory thalassemia test in the marriage registration form but disagreed with prohibiting marriages based on thalassemia-positive results. It also resolved to organize a seminar to explore establishing a human milk bank, further expanding its scope of influence on contemporary social issues.
