Despite economic uncertainty, the computer industry demanded H-1B visas for years; tech giants hired thousands of H-1B workers worldwide.

As a prospective recession looms, many businesses are laying off employees, putting people with this visa in a tough spot, CNBC reported

Thousand of Pakistanis working in the United States of America on an H-1B visa are in trouble as Tech companies have started layoff due to economic uncertainty.

It has been reported that Twitter, Amazon, Meta, and Cisco plan to lay off thousands of employees.

Earlier, Meta sacked 11,000, while Twitter laid off 7,500.

All these companies extend H-1B to lay off workers for 60 days to locate new employment; if they don’t, they must leave the country.

According to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) data, USCIS received 483,000 H-1B applications for fiscal 2023, up 57% from fiscal 2022, and 127,600 registrants were selected by lottery.
