The Sydney Sixers have unveiled a unique twist for star batsman Babar Azam. The franchise revealed his distinctive jersey number ahead of the Big Bash League’s 15th season. The team announced the move on its official social media channels on Tuesday. A post showed the Pakistan captain at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground.
Babar Azam is famously associated with the number 56. However, the Sixers introduced a creative variation for BBL 15. The 30-year-old will instead sport the number 056. This stylish distinction helps differentiate him from teammate Mitchell Starc. The Australian pace bowler will continue wearing the classic number 56.
The announcement coincided with Babar’s arrival in Sydney. His BBL stint is among the most anticipated international appearances of the season. The Sixers welcomed him with a short viral video clip. It showed the prolific right-hander entering the team dressing room. The caption read: “He’s arrived.”
