Police in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arrested Abdul Mughiz, a TikToker, for creating and sharing indecent videos while impersonating a girl.
Police spokesperson Liaqat Ali told reporters that Mughiz’s actions, which included posing in various outfits, caused widespread anger in the community.
Following complaints, Bamkhel police acted quickly, arresting Mughiz and filing a case against him. Ali said Mughiz admitted to the offence and promised to stop such activities.
TikTok has faced multiple bans in Pakistan due to concerns over inappropriate content. In its Q1 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, TikTok reported removing 24,954,128 videos in Pakistan for violating rules. The platform noted a 99.4% proactive removal rate, with 95.8% of violating videos taken down within 24 hours.
The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about social media content in Pakistan and its impact on local communities. It underscores the need for stricter online regulations.
