The release of surveillance photos of the suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson near Midtown Manhattan’s Hilton Hotel has sparked widespread online discussion.

Commentators noted the alleged shooter’s striking resemblance to actors Timothee Chalamet and Jake Gyllenhaal. Thompson was killed execution-style on Wednesday morning.

The NYPD released surveillance footage on Thursday. The footage captures the suspect with a black mask dangling from his chin, wearing a grey hoodie—reportedly the same outfit worn during the crime. The images quickly circulated online, prompting comparisons to Hollywood stars.

Social media erupted with comments. One user exclaimed on X, “We got him, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal!!!” while another speculated, “Jake Gyllenhaal wanted in connection with United CEO assassination.” The 28-year-old “Dune” actor’s similarity to Timothee Chalamet also fueled discussions.

Possible leads emerged about the suspect's travel and a message scrawled on ammunition found at the crime scene. https://t.co/qTMW0S3M36 pic.twitter.com/IeZnQgSHv7

The footage shows the suspect at a Starbucks on West 56th Street and Sixth Avenue moments before the crime. The NYPD believes he approached Thompson shortly after, shooting him multiple times at close range before fleeing. The suspect’s escape involved a swift departure on foot followed by an e-bike, blending into the city streets.
