As a CBS News’s YouGov survey reveals Americans’ concerns over his actions, Donald Trump faces a potential obstacle in his quest to return to the White House.

According to Inquisitor, many believe the former President sought to bypass the law and weaken democratic institutions.

The Hill highlights that 51% of respondents view Trump’s efforts to secure a second term as unconstitutional. Meanwhile, 29% see his actions as legally justified, with 20% expressing disagreement.

This survey follows Trump’s fourth indictment in August, involving charges of attempting to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results—a state he lost to Joe Biden. A significant 54% see Trump’s Georgia actions as a danger to US democracy, while 17% view them positively.

A majority, 59%, interpret Trump’s legal challenges and indictments as efforts to hinder his political comeback. Additionally, 57% believe these legal actions aim to uphold the law, and 52% think they protect democracy.

Echoing Trump’s assertions, a third of respondents consider the cases against him personal. Notably, 56% of Republican participants perceive these legal battles as attacks on Trump and those aligned with him.
