Two legendary superheroes, DC Comics and Marvel Comics, have announced Superman/Spider-Man #1, a special limited edition one-shot comic to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their groundbreaking partnership.
The new comic revives one of the most iconic collaborations in comic book history. It directly honours the original 1976 meeting between the Man of Steel and your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
The release is scheduled for March 25, 2025. This date marks five decades since the two industry giants first collaborated. Their landmark 1976 publication, Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man #1, shattered barriers between rival publishers. That original crossover captivated a generation of fans.
First look at the ‘SUPERMAN’ and ‘SPIDER-MAN’ crossover comic, including short team-up stories for:

Acclaimed writer Mark Waid pens the new story. Superstar illustrator Jorge Jimenez provides the art. The plot follows journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker as they investigate the same global conspiracy. Their pursuit leads them into a dangerous plot. An unexpected alliance of villains orchestrates the threat: DC’s intellectual colossus, Brainiac, teams with Marvel’s mechanically armed Doctor Octopus. This danger endangers both their worlds. Therefore, Kent and Parker must shed their reporter disguises. As Superman and Spider-Man, they will combine Superman’s limitless power with Spider-Man’s street-smart agility. Together, they must save the day.

The anniversary issue also includes notable bonus stories. These stories feature unique character pairings, such as Lois Lane with Mary Jane Watson. Other pairings include Jimmy Olsen with Carnage and Power Girl with the Punisher. For collectors, the comic will feature multiple variant covers. A roster of celebrated DC artists will create these covers. This makes the issue a valuable collector’s item.
This release is the centrepiece of a broader celebration. DC and Marvel are honouring their 50-year partnership with several releases. First, the Treasury Edition 50th Anniversary of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 arrives on January 7, 2025. Then, DC and Marvel Present: Superman and Spider-Man Treasury Edition #1 follows on February 4, 2025.
This successful collaboration continues a notable trend in 2025. The recent dual release of Deadpool/Batman comics demonstrated strong fan demand. Marvel’s Deadpool/Batman #1 debuted in September 2024. Subsequently, DC’s reciprocal Batman/Deadpool #1 launched in November 2024. Both titles have already required renewed print runs. This signals a strong market appetite for these unique crossovers.
