At least one persons were killed and several others including the Senior Superintendant of Police (SSP) Farooq Awan were injured as a result of loud explosion that rocked Karachi’s Defense area on Thursday evening.

According to police sources, “Awan sustained minor injuries and has been discharged from the hospital.”

While talking to local news channels Awan said, “By the grace of God, I am safe and sound. These cowardly attacks cannot daunt me away from my duties. It has only given our crackdown on the terrorists a forward thrust”

One the other hands according to Rangers and other Law Enforcement Agencies, it was a suicide attack.

Chief CIS Raja Umer Khatab, has rejected the claims of suicide attack.

Talking to media Khatab said “I can’t say anything about the attack, however the explosive was upto 100 kgs, which cannot be crammed into a suicide vest or a motorcycle.

He further added that “The attacker must have used a four wheeler to hide improvised explosive device (IED) of such size”
