In a bid to unravel the knots around the case regarding attack on SSP Farooq Awan, the city police carried out raids on the hideouts of various banned outfits and arrested at least 18 suspected persons in connection with the bomb attack on SSP Farooq Awan.
The areas where the raids were conducted overnight, include Sohrab Goth, Manghopir, Pirabad, Steel Town and Quaidabad.
The arrested suspected people have been transported to undisclosed location where they are being interrogated.
It should be mentioned here that senior anti-terror police officer SSP Farooq Awan was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb planted in a vehicle in Defence area of Karachi on Thursday evening. The huge blast claimed the lives of two passers-by and wounded eight others, including two women and two police personnel.
The top cop escaped but with minor injuries.
