The Sui Southern Gas Company is considering a temporary suspension of gas supply to industries on Saturday to provide relief to domestic consumers, officials said on Wednesday.
SSGC officials said the gas situation in Karachi has improved after restoring 25-30 million cubic feet per day from local gas wells. The partial recovery has helped stabilise pressure in several areas of the city.
Karachi has faced persistent gas shortages in recent days, causing hardship for households. Many residents have reported low pressure and interrupted supply, especially during peak morning and evening hours.
Winter shortages have become a recurring issue due to higher domestic demand for heating and cooking. Officials say the strain on the system intensifies during colder months.

Earlier this month, the federal government decided not to increase gas tariffs for the next six months, offering temporary relief to consumers.
Separately, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority increased liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices by Rs10.68 per kilogram, pushing the rate to Rs219.67 per kg.
Authorities say any final decision on the industrial shutdown will depend on supply stability over the next 24 hours and the need to prioritise domestic users.
