Spotify announced updates on Wednesday to improve its listening and playlist curation experience. The enhancements, detailed in a newsroom post, aim to personalise user engagement and introduce a redesigned queue, intuitive Hide and Snooze buttons, and mobile playlist management tools.

On May 7, 2025, Spotify rolled out significant updates to enhance user experience, as detailed in its newsroom post, per TechCrunch. The revamped Queue, accessible at the Now Playing view’s bottom, now features a sleek design with easy access to Smart Shuffle, Sleep Timer, Repeat, and Shuffle controls, per The Verge.

Per CNET, premium subscribers benefit from automatic track recommendations based on listening history when queues end, ensuring uninterrupted playback.

A new Hide button intuitively lets users skip unwanted playlist tracks, while a Snooze button, currently in testing for Premium users, temporarily removes songs from recommendations for 30 days. Mobile playlist management tools, including Add, Sort, and Edit options at playlist tops, allow users to customise track lists, titles, and cover art, with a new + button simplifying playlist creation. Features like AI Playlist and Jam remain Premium-exclusive.

Bloomberg reports that Spotify is focusing on personalisation amid competition from Apple Music and YouTube Music. With 626 million monthly active users as of Q1 2025, Spotify’s enhancements strengthen its edge, particularly for Premium subscribers.

Spotify update enhances the listening experience for its 626 million users. The improvements include a redesigned Queue, intuitive Hide and Snooze buttons, and advanced mobile playlist tools. These new features, such as the AI Playlist, empower music fans to have greater control over their soundtracks and further solidify Spotify’s dominance in the music streaming industry.
