Special Olympic medalists meet Army chief

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif earlier today, met with eight members of the Pakistani team who brought international acclaim for the country in the Special Olympics held in Los Angeles.

The eight member team of athletes returned with a rich haul of medals by winning 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze in various events.

According to an ISPR press release, COAS while appreciating the performance of Pakistani athletes in Special Olympics said that our youth is full of talent and the entire nation is proud of its future heroes who took this daunting challenge and overcame all barriers to keep the “Green” flag high due to their outstanding performance and commitment in different sports events.

It may be mentioned that a total of around 6,500 athletes from 177 countries participated in these games.
