A senior police officer and two of his staff were martyred in a tragic incident in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair Khan died in a bomb attack on Friday.
The explosion targeted a police checkpost in the Ghulmina area. Another blast hit the SP’s vehicle shortly after.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO), a bomb was planted near a police checkpost. The initial explosion damaged the post. A second explosion then targeted the vehicle of SP Operations Asad Zubair Khan. The blast resulted in his martyrdom along with his driver, Constable Atif, and another constable, Kifayat.

A fourth policeman, Constable Dawood, was injured. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Following the attack, security forces immediately cordoned off the area. A joint search operation was launched to find the perpetrators.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom. He paid tribute to the officers’ sacrifice and conveyed his condolences to their families.
He stated that the federal government stands with the families. The sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will not be forgotten. Following the news, an old video of SP Asad Zubair Khan began circulating on social media. It showed him in a positive and spirited moment with his team.
